Linda went to NSW University to study medicine in order to be a GP. She was attracted to Medical Genetics and did an extra degree in the subject whilst finishing Medicine. After hospital training in Sydney, she went overseas to broaden her horizons.
Linda studied women’s health in Scotland and received her diploma of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and her Family Planning Certificate. Again she was drawn to Genetics, especially pre-conception care, antenatal diagnosis and counselling patients, and did higher training in Genetics and Medicine before returning to her original desire to be a General Practitioner in Australia. To deliver good medicine she set up her first practice in December 1987. She uses her training at IWGP and also in antenatal clinics at RPAH.
Linda has gained The Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and holds a certificate in advanced training in Women’s Health from the RACGP. Linda believes education is an important part of prevention and is keen to improve the level of understanding of medical issues amongst her patients and the community at large. To achieve this Linda is active within GP Networks. Equally, she believes doctors need education to understand their patients. She teaches medical students, and doctors training to be GPs in the practice, and through the GP training organisation GP Synergy. Now she also works in Borroloola, NT, a month a year.
